Hey a special thanks to the Klesmer band who stayed with the SF Santa Con crew. You guys were awesome! You were the glue that kept us full of cheer completely forgetting the boat was leaving the dock. The two pints at the first bar helped too.
I met some really great Santa's, had much to drink, and laughed my ass off. Mrs Butterfly Claus and I wanted to say thanks! It was a great drama free and FUN FILLED group!

Mon, December 17, 2007 - 4:48 PMYes they played journey's "Don't Stop Believing" at the start of our mindless journey....HA no pun intended!
In hooters we had a rounding rendition of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" We rocked the place!

Tue, December 18, 2007 - 12:46 AMThat band was priceless. They even primed a street base guitarist and a set of drums at corner of Union Square to start playing.

Re: Thanks to the SF group, The band rocked!
Mon, December 17, 2007 - 9:41 AMFucking dammit.
When I discovered that SF SantaCon was stupidly held in Oakland and just wandered lamely around in circles in downtown Oakland, then on BART to downtown Berkeley for some lame-ass shenanigans in the park, and then to more bars where Santa was quickly cut off due to overcrowding.... I was kinda annoyed.
But when I found out that I missed out on the COOL SantaCon with the klezmer band that was actually in SF, I was super pissed.
If there was one thing I wanted to participate in this year, it was singing Journey songs with a bunch of Santas and a klezmer band!
Fuck you, organizers.
(And yeah yeah, I know bitch bitch bitch organize it yourself if you don't like it, but holy fuck going to Oakland was a stupid decision and I wish I had known in ADVANCE, so I could have participated in organizing one in actual San Francisco and just left Oakland for the power-trip bitches who felt the need to break SantaCon! Fuckers.)
I didn't have all that many expectations for SantaCon this year, but I did have one, that I thought was a reasonable expectation. I did expect that San Francisco SantaCon would actually be held in San Francisco. Sigh. -

Re: Thanks to the SF group, The band rocked!
Mon, December 17, 2007 - 10:09 AMp.s. ok, fine, it was still fun to see all the Santas, but my favourite part about SantaCon is the interaction with the public. (NOT getting my drunk on, not barhopping). And so wandering around a completely deserted downtown Oakland was just..... meh. -

Re: Thanks to the SF group, The band rocked!
Tue, December 18, 2007 - 4:28 AMWRT "drama-free" - that was the effect of being part of a splinter group. The dramz that unfolded this year have been ongoing for several years... both of the "santas" involved have been on numerous santacons... and have tangled before. So, don't imagine that there is some special magic to SF that wards off the dramz... as these two have tangled at previous SF santacons... just FYI.
This actually suggests to me that having numerous Santa "cells" might be the way to go - to keep things exciting, to avoid interference from Johnny Law, and to keep the Anarchy in SantArchy! (Not only that, but it would make it considerably easier for Santa to get served in any individual establishment...) Hmmmmmmm.....! -

Re: Thanks to the SF group, The band rocked!
Wed, December 19, 2007 - 9:59 AMSantacon 2007 was great. The band - Sex With No Hands - Kicked some major butt leading all of us stranded Santas around SF. I can't wait to see what happens this weekend. Maybe there will be another appearance of the Klezmer Band - Jew curls and all! Shouts go out to SantaMike, SantaNate, SantaAndrew, SantaJeff and Harmony, Chris, Neil, Ruth, Simon, Monica, Helen, FrannyCluase and all you other wonderful bastards!
